Student – A Poem By Kosisochukwu Nwagboso

I will hold you until you become,
I will stand by you while you become each thing you become during the process of your becoming that serves as a building block for your next becoming,
I will be your light at each step,
And I will be your alarm on becoming each becoming,
That you may realize how much effort you have put in to become,
And give a toast to your resilience,
Smile, and stretch your limbs through the next point.

I will be your sign post,
But I won’t be your becoming,
Cos you cannot become my becoming’s design,
I might be your map if you so desire,
But your becoming will be its own map with relics of my design to become.

I can be your pelican,
But your blood can’t be mine,
I can be your energy saver, but I can’t be your light.

I will be here, or be there,
I can have a vision of your becoming, but I can’t see it,
I can scratch it’s direction,
But I can’t either the direction or destination be.

I can carry you and teach you how to walk,
But I can’t choose how you walk,
I can be your mirror and afterall paint your image,
But I can’t be your face.

I love you,
I wish I can lead you to your becoming’s destination,
But if I be a god, yet I can’t there be,
Like Mosses, I can only lead you through and may be sight your becoming,
But I can’t be there,
And I can’t see there.
Sadly no one but you can,
And the very moment you become,
You will stop becoming,
until you return.
