This poem talks about the challenges children face in the Nigerian society: from child’s labour-hawking and begging, to disguised or overt harlotry just to make profits for their parents or guardians.
It also challenges the Nigerian leadership and politicians to give the society what belongs to them.
It goes further to emphasize that those children we see are capable of moving mountains if they are given a chance and empowered.
“Can You Believe This” is a balm to all suffering children that urges them never to give up but keep on doing everything legal they could to keep hope alive and struggle to both employ themselves believing that one day they will be recognized. But till then the poet promises never to stop crying. Enjoy.
